Davos of Education held for the first time

With over 500 delegates from 50 countries, the first Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) was hosted by GEMS Education. The four day forum was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and jointly organized by UNESCO, The Commonwealth Business Council, The UAE Government and GEMS Education. The success of GESF has paved the way for this to be an annual event that will become the “Davos of Education”. read more...

New Schools for the 2013 -2014 academic year
Earlier this year GEMS Education announced that it will open 10 new schools across the UAE over the next two years.

For the 2013-2014 academic year GEMS will open 5 new schools. Three of the new schools will be in Dubai, one in Abu Dhabi and the fifth school will be the first GEMS School to open in Ras Al Khamiah. read more...
Bring Your Own Device Initiative
GEMS has announced a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) initiative in all our schools in the UAE. 

Starting this summer, our UAE schools will be set up with secure Wi-Fi coverage to access the school network and internet, allowing students and teachers from GEMS Schools to bring in their own devices (laptops, Ipads, Ipods, etc) and use them for educational purposes within the classrooms. 
Debate Diaries
Two Jumeriah College students represented the UAE recently at the World Schools’ Debating Championships (WSDC).  The team of five, sponsored by Clifford Chance,  also had two students from Dubai College and a student from Dubai International Academy. The UAE team represented the country well in what is considered one of the world’s premier schools debating competitions. read more...
Spelling bee
Three months, three rounds and over a thousand students – these were the numbers involved in the Second Edition of the Danube Spelling Bee Championships. But for 14 year old Pranathi Mahesh Rao, from Dubai Modern High School, less than 60 seconds was all it took for her to spell “Wallaby”, and be declared the winner. read more...
